The company announced Transition Keys at the WWDC 2022 event held last June, saying that it would eliminate the need to enter a password, but did not provide any further information. Now it has revealed more details about its plans to remove passwords from our daily lives through new Passkeys.
Apple’s Passkeys are a system that replaces passwords. Explaining that the new system provides faster login and is more secure, Apple says that Passkeys are a standards-based technology designed to be more resistant to identity theft, stronger and not contain shared secret questions, unlike passwords.

In an interview with Tom’s Guide, an Apple spokesperson said, “Passwords are the keys to protect everything we do online today, everything we communicate with, to all our financial information. But it’s also one of the biggest attack vectors and vulnerabilities users face today,” he said, adding, “Changing these passwords is not a dream of the future. Soon we will completely change these passwords,” he concludes.
