Globalstar will offer its services primarily for Apple. The company will provide and maintain Apple with all necessary resources for the iPhone 14 satellite link, including personnel, software, satellite, gateway, satellite imagery, and regulatory rights. Under its agreement with Globalstar, Apple will finance 95% of capital expenditures for the maintenance and growth of the satellite network.

The Emergency SOS feature on the iPhone 14 series enables users to reach emergency services in areas where WiFi and cellular networks are weak or nonexistent. By holding the phone up to the sky, a satellite connection is established and emergency details are sent to the emergency room via text or call. For non-fatal emergencies, location can be shared with the emergency service via satellite via the Find My application.

Globalstar is a US satellite communications company that operates an Earth-orbiting satellite network for low-speed data communications and satellite telephony in remote areas without WiFi and cellular coverage. Globalstar operates in more than 120 countries.
