The first computers that came out of the hands of Apple’s co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak are still being sold and talked about today. In the past years, we have seen that some of the first computers produced under the Apple name were sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
One of these nostalgic devices, unaware that they are the first products of a company that will mark the history of technology, was put up for sale by auction. However, there are some features that distinguish this special Apple-1 from other devices on sale. Let’s take a look at how much and how Apple-1 was sold.
Became the cheapest one among the last Apple-1s
Apple- 1 was auctioned yesterday on e-Bay. Moreover, the computer was still in working condition. However, many parts of this device, which sounded like a miracle, were restored. So the fact that this well-maintained device works isn’t all that surprising.
We have seen in previous reports that Apple-1s, working or not, are selling for a low of $458,711 and a high of $736,862. However, the situation was a little different for this device, which was sold on e-Bay. Apple-1, signed by Steve Wozniak, sold at auction for $340,100. Compared to similar examples, the device has been the lowest-priced device among Apple-1s so far.
One of the reasons why the Apple-1 is cheaper than the others may be that it has been restored. While keeping it in working order would normally increase its value, we guess it may have depreciated as it has been restored and parts replaced. As a result, most people who want to have a nostalgic item want to have the original look of that item, so we do not think that whether it works or not is a very important detail today. After all, we will not play a game like GTA 5.
So what do you think might be the reason why Apple-1 is sold cheaper than others? If you wanted to own an Apple-1, would you prefer the restored and working one, or the one that is completely original?
