According to the statement made by Apple, fingerprint APIs for user data fall into a special category and developers have to explain in detail in their manifests to access this category.
This change, aimed at less tracking of user data, will be implemented in the Fall, and every developer falling into this category must update their manifest. Otherwise app updates will be rejected.
In short, Apple wants to make sure these APIs are used when really needed. The new change will take effect with the release of iOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10 and macOS Sonoma updates. Rejection of updates will begin in Autumn 2024.
