Netflix is producing a documentary series about the couple who allegedly laundered $4.5 billion worth of stolen Bitcoin. This documentary comes just days after Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan were arrested in connection with the crimes, and shortly after many met Morgan’s rapper alter ego Razzlekhan, aka “The Alligator of Wall Street.”
Documentaries will be directed by Chris Smith, executive producer of Tiger King and director of FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. Nick Bilton will executive produce The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, a documentary about the Theranos scandal. Netflix has not yet given any information about the possible release date of the series.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) accuses Morgan and Lichtenstein of playing a role in the 2016 crypto exchange Bitfinex hack, in which an unnamed hacker allegedly managed to transfer 119,756 Bitcoins to a wallet connected to Lichtenstein. The pair are also allegedly trying to launder stolen funds through a “maze” of cryptocurrency transactions, which includes buying gold and NFTs.
