Two well-known Apple experts said that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have larger screens than the previous models, a few days apart. With such screen growth, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have the largest screen of any iPhone to date. And now, Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo have been joined by a third source.
Like Young, this leaker also offers 6.3-inch sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro screen and 6.9-inch for the 16 Pro Max screen. A few days ago, Young talked about the same screen sizes for the two iPhone 16 Pro models without any further explanation on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Ming-Chi Kuo made a briefing on Apple’s camera suppliers on Twitter. The analyst said that both iPhone 16 Pro models will have periscope cameras next year. Kuo said that Apple will increase the size of the smaller Pro model for this purpose. It didn’t reveal a screen size, but said a larger screen would enable Apple to pack a periscope zoom camera inside the smaller Pro model.
But Apple may have other reasons to increase the size of the iPhone. For example, iPhone 16 Pro models will need more hardware inside the phone to have solid state buttons.
These dimensions are yet to be confirmed, though, and Apple has plenty of time to tweak the iPhone 16 design parameters. The 2024 iPhones aren’t expected to hit the market until September of the same year.
A third source of leaks, called Unknownz21, supports Young and Kuo’s claims on Twitter. He said that Apple is working on two iPhone 16 Pro models with enlarged screen sizes and periscope lenses.
Unknownz21 talks about the screen sizes of next year’s smartphones as 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches.
iPhone 15 Pro models will have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes, similar to previous models. Despite the general design changes, these sizes have been the standard iPhone Pro sizes for years.
Still, the iPhone 16 series has more than a year to go, and Apple has plenty of time to explore different ideas before deciding on the final design of the 2024 iPhone models.
