NVIDIA’s newest flagship graphics card RTX 5090 has been released with the other graphics cards in the series in recent weeks, and many complaints about the new series since then have appeared. Today, the most powerful graphics card of the series came up with the first melting incident.
A user reported that the 12-pine connector on both the graphics card and the cable was burning while playing games.
RTX 5090 used a third party cable
The Reddit user U/Ivan6953 was using a third-party 12VHPWR cable with Asus Loki SFX-L power supply. The connector melted when the RTX 5090 attracted a power of around 500-520W, and the user had to close his computer as soon as he noticed the smell of burn. Compared to what he specified, it was too past because when he opened his safe, he realized that the cable and graphics card was damaged.
12VHPWR connector cables had also had problems in the past. NVIDIA renewed this connector after the melting events in the RTX 4090 period, but the problem is still not solved compared to the apparently.
Although the user says that he had previously used this cable in RTX 4090, it seems difficult to request warranty because of the use of a third -party cable. Experts recommend that the cables recommended by NVIDIA as much as possible in the new series.
