The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were removed from the software support list earlier this year. However, Samsung surprised everyone by releasing a new security update to its smartphones in September 2021. And the same situation has happened once again: The South Korean company has released another new software update for its five-year-old phones.

The update was first released in France and gradually started to reach other markets as well. This update reportedly fixes numerous privacy and security vulnerabilities.

If you haven’t received the update yet, you can check it by going to Settings – Software update and tapping on Download and install.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with Android 7.0 Nougat in early 2017. The devices received the Android 8.0 update in 2018 and the Android 9 Pie-based One UI update in 2019.
