Xiaomi, which was sued by its compatriot Huawei last week, received another blow this week. This time, licensing lawsuits were filed in Europe and India regarding touch feedback technologies.

Xiaomi can’t get rid of cases

Technologies that provide vibration feedback to your touch movements, also known as haptics, find themselves in many different industries today, from smartphones to tablets, wearables, medical equipment and laptops. However, there are also unauthorized uses.

Immersion Corporation, which develops touch feedback technologies, sued Xiaomi in 3 countries on the grounds that some patents were violated. These countries are listed as France, Germany and India. The firm claims that multiple patents related to touch feedback are being used in Xiaomi smartphones without permission.

In general, companies go to compromise with the owner for patents they use without permission. If Xiaomi also follows this path, it will have to pay a certain amount of compensation. Otherwise, decisions can be made in the court up to a sales ban.
