Tesla, which dominates the electric vehicle market, makes agreements with automobile giants thanks to the North American Charging Stand technology it developed in 2012. General Motors announced that they will use the Tesla NACS connector in their electric vehicles produced from 2025.

General Motors transitions to Tesla NACS connector design

GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement that the company will adopt Tesla’s electric vehicle charging standard, called the North American Charging Standard. Barra made the announcement in a Twitter Spaces conversation with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

GM will incorporate the NACS connector design into its electric vehicles from 2025. Collaboration with Tesla also means GM electric car drivers will have greater access to chargers as they will be able to use the 12,000 Tesla Superchargers available in North America from early 2024.

The company, which made an announcement on the subject, stated that electric car drivers are currently using more than 134,000 chargers through mobile applications. Owners of GM brand electric vehicles will also be able to benefit from Tesla Supercharger technology with the connection adapter starting from 2024.
