TSMC is now free
The approval certificate procedure for chip equipment exports to China implemented by the USA was criticized by companies such as Samsung and SK hynix on the grounds that it would cause a major blow to the global chip trade. Last week, the USA provided these two companies with extra permission to export modern equipment to their production facilities in China.
This week, news came that TSMC received unlimited permission for export. From now on, TSMC will not need to obtain a separate permit when exporting equipment to its facilities in China. The company has advanced chip facilities in cities such as Shanghai and Nanjing. In this way, activities will continue uninterrupted in the facilities. TSMC’s shares closed the week with an increase after this news.
