Social media posts by Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 owners and some reports suggest that even with no visible damage or wear elsewhere, the phone’s internal screen is broken with a crack right in the middle.
On Reddit, a user named Snoo_23916 shared his experiences in the /r/GalaxyFold subreddit and said that when he opened the screen to show his phone to a friend, he heard a crackling sound. After that, the right side of the screen was no longer responding to touch at all. Interestingly, he also reports that the phone has only been unlocked 2-3 times a week over a 15-month period, suggesting that excessive wear cannot be the culprit.
Another user, Mizderrung, shared a similar experience, saying that their device is three months old and Samsung has denied the warranty, stating that it was a hit point.
As of now, no official statement has been made on the subject. But if this problem becomes widespread, it will not be hard to guess that Samsung will be very annoyed.
