Microsoft is making big moves in AI
Microsoft identified artificial intelligence (AI) development as one of its top priorities in its Q1 earnings call. The company’s CEO, Satya Nadella, briefly commented on the AI features. Google is wary of AI development
Following Microsoft, came the AI statement from Alphabet, behind another giant company, Google. However, Google does not seem to have an approach as ambitious as Microsoft’s. In a statement on Alphabet’s first quarter earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai pointed out that they have recently merged the “Brain Team” at Google and DeepMind into a single unit. With this combination, he said, Google still aims to take a “safe and responsible” approach to developing AI systems.
According to the CEO, the company also adheres to its commitment to “invest responsibly and with discipline.” Machine learning is one of the main areas where it is trying to operate in a cost-effective and “faster” way. Since the launch of this AI, it has made progress, such as adding the PaLM model to Bard, thanks to the merger of the DeepMind and Brain teams. The API enables Bard to assist with programming and development related tasks, including code generation.
Pichai talked about the launch of Google’s PaLM API and the new MakerSuite tool in his earnings call on April 25. The company publishes them so that developers can access the company’s major language models. It is also stated that it aims to enable companies to start creating new artificial intelligence applications. Pichai noted that the company is adding generative AI to its cloud offerings. It also noted Google’s involvement with products “designed specifically for jobs like productive artificial intelligence.” He noted that with Google’s new G2 Virtual Machines, NVIDIA is the only cloud provider with the new L4 Tensor Core GPU.
Solana released ChatGPT tool
On the other hand, Solana Labs has revealed a ChatGPT plugin that will allow chatbot users to interact with the Solana Blockchain, as seen in a tweet it shared. Solana Labs stated that users can check their wallet balances with ChatGPT. Also, the team said that this extension can use the plugin to transfer tokens and buy NFT. For example, in one screenshot, a user is requesting a list of NFTs for a particular Solana address. In the second example image, a user is asking for help sending a Solana transaction to another address. In the third image, a user asks for help purchasing an NFT.
In other words, ChatGPT can convert instructions or information about Solana Blockchain from natural language to machine language. According to the technical details on GitHub, the plugin can view account balances, assets owned, transactions and more. Solana did not specify when the add-on will become generally available. But he said developers can create their own plugins using the project’s source code.
Microsoft and Google developments splatter AI coins
Apart from Microsoft and Google developments, AI coins have been on the rise with the acceleration of the field of artificial intelligence.
