In today’s issue of the Official Gazette, an important decision regarding the upcoming Eid-al-Adha took place. With the Presidential Decree No. 7315, it was decided to use some highways and public transportation vehicles free of charge during the Eid holiday. When we go into the details of the decision, we see that the highways that are put into service with the “Build-Operate-Transfer” model are toll roads, while the roads built by the state are free.
With the Presidential Decision No. 7315, between 00:00 on 24 June 2023 and 07:00 on 3 July 2023, it will be possible to pass free of charge on the highways built by the state. On the other hand; Between 28 June 2023 at 00:00 and 1 July 2023 at 07:00, public transport will also be used free of charge.
So which highways and bridges are free?
- Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge
- Bosphorus Bridge (15 July Martyrs Bridge)
- Toll highway connecting Şanlıurfa-Hatay-Niğde cities
- TEM Highway (between Ankara and Istanbul)
- Thrace Highway (between Istanbul and Edirne)
- İzmir Highway (between İzmir-Aydın and İzmir borders)
According to the Presidential Decree No. 7315, the above-mentioned highways will be free of charge between 00:00 on 24 June 2023 and 07:00 on 3 July 2023. The toll highways built with the Build-Operate-Transfer model will continue to be paid during the holiday. So which roads are chargeable?
Note: All red highways are free during the holiday. Green roads are toll.

- Ankara-Nigde Highway
- Northern Marmara Highway (between Sakarya and Istanbul)
- Izmir-Istanbul Highway
- North Aegean Highway (between Menemen and Çandarlı)
- Osmangazi Bridge
- 1915 Çanakkale Bridge (including the highway starting from Çanakkale center to Malkara)
- Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge
- Eurasia Tunnel
Public transport services that will be free during the holiday
- Marmaray,
- Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport Metro,
- Baskentray,
- IZBAN,
- Public transportation vehicles put into service by municipalities in 81 provinces
It will be free from June 28, 2023 at 00:00 to July 1, 2023 at 07:00.
