If you like collecting famous people’s stuff and Steve Jobs is on your list, now you have another interesting option. A pair of sandals owned and worn by Steve Jobs are up for auction and are expected to fetch between $60,000 and $80,000, according to auction house Julien’s Auctions.
The Birkenstock brand sandals were apparently worn by Jobs in the 1970s and ’80s and were rescued from the garbage heap in the 1980s by chef Mark Sheff, who ran one of Jobs’ estates in Albany, California.
In a 2016 Yahoo article describing how she got her hands on the sandals, Sheff wrote, “Steve was living on his property looking for someone to help, and it was us. We then kept some of the remaining items, shared some with landscapers and friends, and brought some to Goodwill. “The collection we finally got was pretty random stuff,” he said.
The winning bidder will also receive a free NFT of sandals.
Bids were opened with a starting price of $15,000, and the highest bid was $22,500 at the time of press release. The sandals last went up for auction in 2016 when they were sold to an anonymous party for $3,400. If the truly expected selling price of $60,000 or more is achieved, it’s sure to be a good profit for the person selling these old sandals with only six years of possession.
