The Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) has published November 2021 automobile and light commercial vehicle sales data. The announced data reveal that the vehicle sales market contracted by 24.9 percent in November. The data for November, in which only a little activity took place in the light commercial vehicle market, reveals the crisis in the sector.
According to the announced data, the number of automobile sales in November was recorded as 42 thousand 982 units. This sales figure reveals a 33.2 percent contraction compared to November 2020. Light commercial vehicle sales in November were 17 thousand 234. This figure is 9.2 percent higher than November 2020.
It fell below the November averages of the last 10 years
The data announced by ODD was also compared with the sales figures of the last 10 years. As a result of the analysis, it was understood that the total vehicle sales figure in November 2021 was 30 percent below the average of the last 10 years. Light commercial vehicle sales were also 7.4 percent lower than the average of the last 10 years.
What about automotive sales data in 2021?
When we look at the data for the first 11 months of 2021, we see that 518 thousand 294 cars were sold. This sales figure means a 2.1 percent decrease compared to the first 11 months of last year. In addition, 86.6 percent of the vehicles sold consisted of A, B and C segment vehicles with relatively low tax rates. These segments were ranked as C, B, and A, from most preferred to least.
When we look at the body types of the vehicles, we see that the sedan superiority continues. Because 39.4 percent of all cars sold in 2021 were sedans. As you can imagine, this body class was followed by the SUV. 35 percent of the cars sold in 2021 appeared as SUVs. Engine options were recorded as gasoline with a share of 66.1 percent, diesel with a share of 20.1 percent, hybrid with a share of 8.7 percent and autogas with a share of 4.6 percent.
