Google introduced a new feature that warns Android users of unwanted snooping. The company’s aim is to prevent location-based tracking devices such as AirTag from being used for espionage. It looks like the new protection function will be able to successfully prevent this.
As you know, tracking devices have been developed to find lost items or pets, but malicious people can use these accessories to track people. Google’s new protection system will prevent the misuse of such devices.
Will warn with notification
Android device owners will now be alerted when a tracking device is detected nearby that moves with them. The user will be able to see the location of the said tracker on the map and activate the alert sound to find it.
The new feature can only detect Apple AirTag for now. However, it will be able to detect other tracking devices in the future. The company said the purpose of the new feature is to improve the privacy and security of Android users.
Tracker detection will be gradually rolled out to users of devices running Android 6.0 and above.
