Google is allegedly developing a feature that allows Android users to easily connect their devices if they are signed in to the same Google account. This connection can provide useful features such as call switching and tethering between devices.

The feature was spotted by a researcher who revealed the existence of a new “Connect Devices” menu planned for the Settings app. When this menu becomes available, it will likely appear under Settings > Google > Devices & Sharing.

It’s worth noting that Apple has a similar Continuity feature. This feature includes features like Handoff, Universal Clipboard, AirDrop and Continuity Camera.

While all the details are not yet known, Android’s connectivity seems to enable things like call switching and tethering based on what we know so far.

The call switching feature is quite interesting as it can work on multiple phones. Apple’s Continuity feature does not offer this; You can only answer iPhone calls on Macs and iPads, not on other iPhones. Google’s app seems to be based on Google Play Services.

In other words, all Android phones with Google services will be able to access it when the feature becomes available. However, it’s likely to be available for Pixel models first.

This connectivity and call transfer feature could bring Android closer to Apple’s ecosystem integration. It can make it easier for Android users to switch between devices and increase continuity. Recently, Google’s Nearby Share app made it much easier to transfer files from Windows computers to Android (or vice versa).
