The expansion of the mobile market day by day brought with it completely different problems. Although there are thousands of applications in stores as of 2022, unfortunately, some of them contain malicious and trojans that try to steal users’ private information. Especially in recent years, we have started to encounter such news every other day. A new one has been added to these. Eight applications containing the Autolycos trojan have been detected in the Google Play Store.
Autolycos trojan is draining bank accounts
Autolycos, one of the newest members of the trojans that endanger user security, has been detected in eight apps on the Google Play Store. Actually, this place is pretty scary. Because the cyber security firm Evina noticed the virus in June 2021, exactly one year ago, and immediately reported the situation to Google.
Google, on the other hand, was too late to remove the threat. In fact, six of the eight apps that were downloaded more than three million times in total were removed from the Play Store exactly six months later. The remaining two were deleted yesterday, a year later. In this process, while the software continues to steal users’ data and money, it is also a matter of curiosity why the company made such a decision.
The number of users affected by the Autolycos trojan is unknown. Although the danger has been removed from the Google Play Store, it still continues for people who have downloaded the applications before. Therefore, if some of the following software is installed on your device, we recommend that you delete it immediately and change your bank account passwords.
