One of the most frequently used cyber attack methods in recent years is phishing. As technology progresses, the methods used for phishing attacks have also changed. Even the most tech-savvy users are not completely safe from these attacks. Aware of this situation, Google is testing a new anti-phishing feature in the version of the Android operating system called QPR2 Beta 2.

The feature, which was also included in the previous beta of Android under the name “Deceptive app search”, could be found by following Settings > Security and privacy > More security and privacy. Once enabled, this feature will examine app activity for phishing or other deceptive behavior. Google says that the review will be carried out on the device and only if risky activity is encountered, information will be sent to Google Play Protect to warn the user and verify.

Google will check fraudulent apps

Although it is almost certain when we look at the code that the feature will be added to updates soon, details about the operation of the system remain confidential. Google has not yet shared a document or made an announcement on the subject. However, when we look closely at the code, we see a system service called “ContentProtection”, which stands for “ContentProtection”, which will probably be the task of examining application behavior. This service is generally expected to examine applications that contain a password field and request sensitive data such as username, email, phone number. Additionally, some applications will be blocked through this service.

Although it is not yet known how efficient the new system will be, it shows that Android has taken an important step in terms of security. The conflict between malware and blocker software continues.
