Google is introducing a new data security section to apps on the Play Store early next year to help Android smartphone users better protect their personal data.
According to a new post on the Android Developers Blog, Google is introducing a new form of data security in the Google Play Console. Starting next February, developers will be able to review, fill out and submit the search giant’s new form by going to the app content section in the Play Console.
If a developer’s information about their app is approved, the store listing will be automatically updated with data security information. However, if no information has been submitted or declined, users will see a “No information available”. This may cause privacy-conscious users to avoid downloading an app in the first place, which could hurt a developer’s sales or ad revenue.
