Twitter has been able to stay on the agenda by bringing many new functions to the platform lately. After many innovations, it introduced a feature it introduced in early May to iOS users in September. That feature, which was active only for users over the age of 18, is now available on Android devices as well. So what is this feature and what does it do? Here are the details…
Twitter Tip Box is now on Android!
After a viral tweet or on special occasions like birthdays, sometimes people were sharing their account numbers on Twitter and collecting donations to help someone who is sick and in need. Realizing this and wanting to provide convenience to its users, Twitter added a Tip Jar to certain profiles for this purpose.
The button for the new feature is located next to the feature to open messages and notifications next to the follow button in each user’s profile. To enable this feature, you must be a selected Twitter influencer, nonprofit, expert or journalist.
You can directly send money to a user with an active Tip Box via Patreon, Paypal, BandCamp and Venso from within the application. It is thought that it will soon be possible to use Bitcoin for tips as well. The feature is only available to users over the age of 18. After iOS, this feature is finally available on Android.
Other paid functions coming to the app
Twitter has been a casual app for years, with nonprofit creators tweeting mostly for entertainment purposes. But lately, Twitter has also rolled up its sleeves, as every social media platform brings functions that somehow extend to commerce. And it started bringing in paid features, including the Tip Box.
The company has launched a beta version of its live streaming and chat feature Spaces, which also allows broadcasters to set a ticket fee for users to participate. With the “Super Tracking” feature it has recently introduced, it provides a great advantage especially to content producers. It allows users to make some of the content they share visible only to subscribers.
