Spotify’s iOS and Android apps will soon feature individual play and shuffle buttons for all playlists.

It’s 2022, and Spotify has finally managed to add one of the most essential features a music player should have in its iOS and Android apps: separate Play and Shuffle buttons on playlists and album pages. Until now, when we hit the Play button in playlists, the list was played in shuffle mode automatically. You had to press on the song to listen to the songs in order.

However, this new feature will only be available to paying Spotify Premium subscribers.

Last year, famous singer Adele pressed the streaming platform to remove the shuffle button from albums. She argued that albums should be listened to in sequence as the artists intended. Spotify acknowledged this and started only displaying a regular play button for albums. Now with the latest update the shuffle button is also coming back to these pages. Thus, both buttons can be used separately.
