Baykar founded a company called Fergani for space studies. Fergani space initiative, named after Uzbekistani Muslim astronomer Fergani, aims to send satellites into space within two years. Pointing out that the satellites to be sent will serve as constellations, Selçuk Bayraktar said, “Our space-related initiative has been talked about for about a year, we established it 5-6 months ago. There will also be a Baykar story. We have a target to launch a satellite in two years, but since it is a constellation, it may be necessary to launch tens or hundreds of them. Our goal is to communicate with low orbit constellations, to develop a global positioning system, as well as to develop orbital transfer vehicles. These are 5, 10, 15 year goals. It is a project that we run entirely with our own resources, without any government support.” said.
Supersonic version of Red Apple is coming
The first flight of Kizilelma, an unmanned fighter aircraft developed by Baykar, was made in the last days of 2022. Stating that they are working on the supersonic version of Kızılelma, Selçuk Bayraktar said, “The cruising speed of Kızılelma is several times higher than Akıncı’s. We are even considering making a supersonic variant of the Red Apple. There will be a variant that can fly above the sound. In addition, Red Apple will make aggressive maneuvers. Bayraktar TB-2 was made with a locality rate of 93 percent, which is considered a record. What makes this valuable? The technology inside. We design almost everything except the chips supplied from the world inside, actually the most valuable thing here is the power of design. There are more than 40 computers inside Bayraktar TB-2. If you think about the hood, we also design the whole body. From aerodynamics to brake pads, we design and manufacture. It’s not worth much there, it’s the computers inside that make it valuable. Billions, millions of lines of software make it valuable.”
