If you have been in the internet world for a long time, you probably have hundreds of passwords registered to Chrome’s password manager. Google Chrome also shows which passwords have been leaked in various previous security offices with password security feature. However, changing them and the weak passwords is a very difficult task. At this point, a new artificial intelligence -supported Chrome feature will be activated: automatic password replacement.
Google Chrome is working on a feature that can detect and automatically change the passwords seized in data leaks by moving their sensitivity to security one step further.
A functional feature for password safety
This feature, which was first discovered by the software researcher Leopeva64, is defined as Chrome as an artificial intelligence -supported innovation, but it is unclear how the feature is supported by AI. According to the explanations, when Chrome detects a password released in data violations, it recommends to automatically create a new password when the user logins, and to save it to the Google Password Manager. This feature can be obviously quite functional. The biggest question mark here is how Google made the definition of “artificial intelligence”. If AI uses a special model to make passwords safer, we can really talk about an innovation. However, if there is only a random algorithm that produces stronger passwords, this technology has already existed for years.
For the time being, the feature can only be seen when certain settings are activated in early test versions of Chrome. Users can test this feature when entering “Chrome: // Flags” and enable “Improved Password Change Service” and “Mark All Credential As Leaked” options. It is unclear whether the feature will be opened for general use or whether the definition of “artificial intelligence” in the last case will be preserved.
