Microsoft will soon make history the oldest running Xbox subscription service. Xbox Live Gold is being discontinued on September 14, and Microsoft will introduce a new Xbox Game Pass subscription option, the Xbox Game Pass Core, to replace the rest while keeping some of the benefits.

This news states that after more than 20 years, the Xbox Live brand will be removed in September. In addition, Games with Gold, the now active monthly free games promotion that started with Xbox 360 for Gold subscribers in 2013, will also be gone.

To replace Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft is launching a brand new subscription, “Xbox Game Pass Core,” that will give Xbox console owners access to online multiplayer. However, this subscription will offer subscribers a bundle of famous games from the regular Game Pass library, rather than monthly giveaways.

Some games, including Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Grounded, and Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, will be included with the Xbox Game Pass Core subscription. After that, these options are planned to increase every month.

How much will the Xbox Game Pass Core cost?

The pricing of Xbox Game Pass Core will be almost the same as Xbox Live Gold, ie $9.99 per month… While previously requested Games with Gold games will remain tied to the respective accounts, subscribers will also be able to take advantage of discount offers offered with Game Pass access.

One thing that might bother Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers is that they seem to be losing their monthly Games with Gold promotions for nothing in return. Last year, there was a decline in benefits when Microsoft withdrew its offer of free Xbox 360 games in October.
