When Dodge is mentioned, high-volume V8 engines and powerful cars come to mind since the 1960s. But the American manufacturer realized that it could no longer ignore electric cars. The company unveiled the concept version of its first electric model, which it plans to launch in 2024.
Electric Dodge Charger concept will make real exhaust sound
Dodge shared photos of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT “Banshee” concept, an all-electric version of the Dodge Charger, one of the most important examples of iconic American cars. The new concept model sheds light on the “world’s first electric muscle car” model, which will be introduced in 2024.
The concept model, which refers to the past models in terms of design, on the other hand, contains modern technology and lines. At the front of the Charger Daytona is a section that Dodge calls the R-Wing, which allows airflow from the front grille to the hood. Thus, the manufacturer states that the vehicle is more aerodynamic.
The concept, which refers to the 1968 model Charger with its angular front section, catches today’s technology with its LED strip. Dodge’s “Fratzog” logo, which was used in the most powerful models of the brand from 1962 to 1976, located in the center, will adorn the electric models of the brand from now on.
We also see the traces of 1968 Dodge Charger on the side of the vehicle. Especially the shoulder line of the vehicle is a reference to the iconic model. The rear part reminds us directly of the 1966 Charger. It is possible to see the Fratzog logo in the center of the LED taillights that extend throughout.
Dodge also shared some technical details about the new electric concept model. The new electric model will be offered with an 800V electrical system and all-wheel drive, according to the statement. The first thing that draws attention in the electric model is the gearbox called eRupt.
This system, which is a very fast transmission that provides electromechanical gear shifts, appears in order to provide a better connection between electric cars and their drivers. The Charger Daytona will also feature a PowerShot mode that provides a horsepower boost for more power and a better take off.
Another feature that Dodge offered in the new electric car model was the exhaust system called Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust. Equipped with tuning chambers and an amplifier to enhance the natural sounds emanating from the powertrain, the system will sound at the same level as existing Hellcat models in terms of decibels produced. We can already say that this exhaust system will definitely attract attention.
There are no further details about the model, which is still in the concept stage. With the approach of 2024, we hope to learn more about the first electric model of the Dodge brand. So what do you think about this electric car with exhaust? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
