There is no one who does not know about the hood ornament of the Rolls-Royce brand called Spirit of Ecstasy. According to the British manufacturer, this symbol is a symbol of wealth and heritage rather than an ornament. This icon on the hood of Rolls-Royce looks very stylish.
Cadillac faces Rolls-Royce with ‘Goddess’
Of course, Rolls-Royce isn’t the only brand with a stylish hood ornament. Bentley’s ‘flying B’ symbol and Mercedes-Benz’s three-pointed star also stand out in this regard. But still, Spirit of Ectasy is on a different level. But this may not last long because the US Cadillac is bringing back the ‘Goddess’ icon with the Celestiq model.
Cadillac’s ‘Goddess’ hood ornament was first used in 1930. Similar to the Spirit of Ecstasy, the Goddess appears as a female figure, whose dress flutters in the wind, resembling wings, bent forward and arms stretched back. In this sense, the figure, which is quite similar to Spirit of Ectasy, reveals its difference with its impressive name and detailed embroidery.
Unfortunately, the life of the ‘Goddess’ symbol, which has been used regularly since 1933, did not last long. Removed from mass production models in 1956, this symbol was last used on the 1959 limited edition Eldorado Brougham model.
Now, if the US manufacturer’s electric Celestiq is the model, we will see this hood ornament again. The ‘Goddess’, which has a place in the interior as an embroidery on the center console, will also show itself while the vehicle is charging. We think that the hood ornament will disappear when the car is in motion.
The Celestiq will be a handcrafted, $300,000 electric luxury car intended to compete with the Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce’s first electric car, Specter, was introduced last October. The British manufacturer reinterpreted the Spirit of Ectasy figure for its electric model and made it more aerodynamic.
We look forward to seeing how the competition between the electric models of Rolls-Royce and Cadillac will be like with the new hood ornament. So what do you think of Cadillac’s new ‘Goddess’ hood ornament? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
