AMD is a little late compared to its rival in increasing the model number of Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. AMD has only released Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7600 cards currently, but it looks like new cards are coming soon. AMD CEO Lisa Su made a date for “enthusiast-grade” cards during the company’s second-quarter results call.

New Radeon RX 7000 cards are coming

AMD CEO and President Dr. Lisa Su revealed during her recent second-quarter earnings call that the company will launch new enthusiast-grade graphics cards in the Radeon 7000 series this quarter. “In gaming graphics cards, we expanded our Radeon 7000 GPU lineup in Q2 with the launch of our mainstream RX 7600 cards for 1080p gaming. We are on track to further expand our RDNA 3 GPU offerings with the launch of new, enthusiast-grade Radeon 7000 series cards in the third quarter.”

As can be understood from Lisa Su’s statements, there are more than one player cards coming and these cards will appeal to the upper class. However, it is unlikely that the new cards will be above the RX 7900 series, as this series is positioned as ‘ultra-enthusiast’, that is, the highest level. Therefore, AMD will most likely come up with the RX 7800 and RX 7700 series cards.

RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT appear on the horizon

Statements aside, previous information also said that AMD would launch the RX 7800 and RX 7700 series by the end of this quarter. While the exact reasons for the delay are not entirely clear, it could be related to overstocking of the RX 6900/6800 RDNA2 models. With these, we are likely to see the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT models this quarter. Our information on these cards is limited, but the Radeon RX 7800 XT will feature 60 CUs (processing units), 260W TBP, 16GB memory capacity and 256-bit memory bus. A sub-model RX 7700 XT will support 48 to 54 CU configurations with 12GB of memory on a 192-bit bus. It is also stated that both models will have 19.5 Gbps of memory. In terms of pricing, the cards can be expected to enter the market around $ 400 to $ 600.
