Due to the global chip crisis, it has become increasingly expensive for designers to pour their chips. After all, it’s not about casting chips, it’s about allocating capacity for casting. As such, deposits fly in the air.
AMD spends a fortune on casting
There was a remarkable detail in the company’s record first quarter charts. During the year, it is seen that AMD has set aside a sizable savings of around $6.4 billion for casting expenditures. This will likely be spent closing TSMC bands for the 5nm process. It also includes the annual casting cost and the amounts paid to GlobalFoundries.
When is the Ryzen 7000 APU series coming?
It seems that AMD will pay another 1.86 billion dollars in 2023. In the following years, the amount decreases. It is understood that AMD has estimated a total expenditure of 10 billion dollars in 5 years.
Apple will pay TSMC around $17 billion this year alone as it is in a more competitive position at this point. It was also on the agenda that Nvidia allocated a budget of around 10 billion dollars. In other words, the most important thing now is the deposit given to separate the bands.
