AMD showed off the next generation Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards

During today’s official Ryzen 7000 announcement, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su made the first announcement of the upcoming Radeon 7000 graphics card. It was avoided to give more details about the new graphics card series, which was mentioned very briefly at the end of the event.

The teaser shown by AMD gives us a look at the Radeon 7000 series graphics cards with RDNA 3 GPU cores. The shared image probably reveals the design of the flagship of the series. Although there are not many details, the design shown is very similar to the reference design used by the existing cards. We also see that there is RGB lighting on the front of the card. In addition, it should be noted that the new generation Radeon RX 7000 graphics card on display looks thicker compared to existing cards such as the RX 6950XT.

AMD has confirmed that its RDNA 3 GPUs will arrive later this year with a massive performance boost. David Wang, the company’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, said that the next-generation GPUs for the Radeon RX 7000 series will deliver over 50 percent performance gains per watt compared to current RDNA 2 GPUs. Other features of Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards with RDNA architecture highlighted by AMD are as follows:

According to the information published by AMD, the company draws attention to a few key features for the RDNA 3 GPUs that will power the next generation Radeon RX graphics cards. The RDNA 3 GPU will be based on the 5nm process node and use an advanced chip package that delivers increased performance per watt. It will also host a host of new technologies such as the GPU, a redesigned Processing Unit, an optimized graphics pipeline, and the next-gen Infinity Cache.

A gameplay video was also shared during the event. AMD showcased the new Radeon card along with the new Ryzen flagship processor (7950X) in the demo. AMD chose Lies of P, which was announced at Gamescom, for its mini gameplay video. Lisa Su underlined that the graphics card in the test system is an example of an early production RDNA3 GPU.

AMD Radeon RX 7000 release date

There was no detailed information about the release date of the new generation Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards. According to Lisa Su, the cards will hit the market towards the end of the year. AMD will also hold a special event where more details will be shared in the future.
