AMD moves to AM5 socket
The first wave of AMD’s new 600 series motherboards will be high-end models with the X670E and X670 chips. A few weeks from now, the B650E and B650 mid-range motherboards will be available. These motherboards bring with them the new AM5 socket, meaning that the next generation AMD processors will not be compatible with AM4 motherboards. Entry-level Ryzen 7000 processors and compatible motherboards will enter the market over time.
