AMD draws more power at idle
While AMD has discovered the root cause of the burning issues currently affecting some users and their Ryzen 7000 / Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs, some tech organizations have launched their own investigations and discovered something interesting. Tests by Hardware Busters and Igor’s Lab have found that the latest AM5 chips experience very high power spikes at idle. This is said to be unrelated to the burn-in issue, but is stated by AMD and its partners as something that could be addressed in future BIOS updates.
not a serious problem
AMD and motherboard manufacturers are preparing and releasing AGESA 1.0.0.7 BIOS software now. This update focuses more on the burning problem, boot times and memory management on the Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 7000X3Ds. Therefore, the elimination of idle power draws may be delayed in subsequent updates.
On the other hand, this is not a serious problem and it is not expected to cause any damage to processors or use. However, important names in the industry state that the RMA, that is, return requests in the Ryzen 7000 series are much lower than the previous Ryzen 5000 series. Therefore, it is necessary not to let the aforementioned problems affect the processor purchasing preference for the end consumer.
