Green light for AMD Radeon RX 7900 mobile
For those who don’t know, AMD introduced the Radeon RX 7900 GRE version, the new member of the RX 7900 series, in the past few weeks. This graphics card, which appears as a cropped version of the RX 7900 XT, was introduced with a smaller version of the Navi 31 chip, 5120 stream processors, 80 RDNA 3 processing units, 256-bit bus and 16GB GDDR6 memory capacity with 18 Gbps speed.
Thus, the fact that the card has a smaller form factor has strengthened the claims about the RX 7900 mobile. Also, earlier, AMD announced that new enthusiast-grade RX 7000 graphics cards will be released very soon. But the term “enthusiast grade” creates some ambiguity, as the company has previously labeled the RX 7900 cards as “extremely enthusiast”. Therefore, it is still unclear which models are on AMD’s roadmap.
As you know, AMD continues to lose blood in the mobile market, even though it is included in the current competition with its RDNA 3 architecture. So far, only the RX 7600M XT, RX 7600M, 7700X and 7600S models have been introduced. On the Nvidia front, it is worth noting that almost as much support as RTX 4090 mobile is offered. So the AMD Radeon RX 7900 mobile could turn things around in this competition.
