AMD is launching new products by both the processor and the graphics card. While the Ryzen 7000 processors introduced last month will start to appear on the shelves very soon, new information continues to come from the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards that will be introduced this year. We can see much higher clock frequency speeds in the new series compared to the transferred one.
Radeon RX 7000 can see 4 GHz
HXL (@9550Pro), known for its leaks in the hardware field, states that Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards powered by RDNA 3 architecture can reach almost 4 GHz clock speeds. If this information is correct, we can say that AMD has taken a big step forward with RDNA 3.
When we go back, we see that AMD first crossed the 1 GHz clock frequency barrier with the 28nm Tahiti GPU in the GCN-based Radeon RX 7970 GHz Edition graphics card, which was produced in the 28nm process. The company later saw 3 GHz clock speeds with the RDNA 2 architecture. Now, it is stated that the 4 GHz level can be reached with TSMC’s 5nm process process.
AMD has already demonstrated that it can easily achieve high clock speeds on its Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 processors, which use TSMC’s 5nm process. So it wouldn’t be surprising if AMD revealed its high-speed RDNA GPUs, along with what was learned from the Zen processors.
RDNA 3 is ambitious in power management and caching
- 5nm process node
- Advanced chiplet packaging
- Redesigned Compute Unit
- Optimized bus
- Next generation AMD Infinity Cache
- 50 percent performance increase per Watt over RDNA 2
- Advanced ray tracing
- Revamped adaptive power management
In addition to the 4 GHz rumor, AMD’s Senior Vice President and Technology Architect Sam Naffziger emphasized that the next-generation RDNA 3 GPUs found in Radeon RX 7000 cards and iGPUs will introduce a host of new technologies. With the new technologies developed, the RDNA 3 GPU will be able to work depending on the workload thanks to adaptive power management. In addition, lower power consumption and high-density memory design will be promised with the new generation Infinity Cache. In addition, the RDNA 3 architecture will offer a 50 percent performance increase per Watt over the previous generation.
The Radeon RX 7000 series based on Navi 3x GPUs is expected to launch later this year. According to the information we have obtained so far, the flagship Navi 31 will be released first, and then graphics cards with Navi 32 and Navi 33 GPUs will be released. However, there is no clear date and price information for now.
