What is AMD Mero?
The new chip design, which emerged in benchmark tests under the name AMD Mero, is being developed for Magic Leap’s next generation rich reality helmet. The chip, which is estimated to have 4 Zen 2 cores, has RDNA 2 graphics.
AMD Instinct MI300 features revealed
with 720×920 pixel resolution 1GB of RAM is reserved for the operating system in the helmet. Other details are unknown. An x86 operating system based on Android 10 is used under the name Magic Leap Demophon.
It is not known when Magic Leap will launch this new helmet, but it is clear that AMD is winking at virtual reality helmets. It can probably create an income model in this sector with chips that prioritize energy efficiency.
