Trying not to lag behind the competition not only on the chip design side but also on the software side, AMD has started to offer many alternative features to the technologies of its competitors. Now it’s time for memory overclocking.

What is AMD EXPO?

The memory overclocking technology, previously leaked with the code name AMD RAMP (Ryzen Accelerated Memory Profile), was revised as AMD EXPO (EXtended Profiles for Overclocking) at Computex 2022. No explanation was given by AMD and it only appeared briefly at a presentation by MSI.

The advantage of AMD EXPO technology is mentioned in the comparison of Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 5000 processors. AMD EXPO solution, which will be an alternative to Intel XMP 3.0 software, will enable easy overclocking of suitable DDR5 memory.

This feature seems to be under development yet, as AMD requested that the presentation image be removed from the source sites. The 24 PCIe Gen 5 pipelines, which are normally described, appear as 28 in the presentation, indicating that some information is incorrect. In this regard, we will not be able to see clear data until AMD makes a statement about AMD EXPO.
