According to information from chi11eddog, a reliable source for hardware leaks regarding CPU and motherboard launches, AMD is reportedly in the process of developing at least two additional CPUs in the Ryzen 5000X3D series. It is reported that these processors will be Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D models.

AMD does not give up on AM4

AMD currently offers two 3D V-Cache processors under the Ryzen 5000 family for the AM4 platform: Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Microcenter-Exclusive Ryzen 5 5600X3D. But it looks like more 3D V-Cache processors are on the way. According to what is stated, AMD is preparing two new AM4 CPUs for the desktop, Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D, both of which will offer 3D V-Cache technologies and offer more options to the gamers on the old platform.

Coming to the specifications, first the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D will be a slightly trimmed model with the same 8-core, 16-threads of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D but with lower clock speeds of 3.0 GHz and 4.1 GHz. This processor will offer 96 MB L3 cache and maintain the same 105 watt TDP. Ryzen 5 5500X3D will have 6 cores, 12 threads, 3.0 GHz base clock, and boost clock speeds up to 4.0 GHz. This model will also include 96 MB L3 cache.

These processors will not come with the second generation 3D V-Cache that we see in the Ryzen 7000X3D models. Therefore, as in the first generation 3D V-Cache processors, clock speeds in these models will be low and OC capabilities will be locked. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, but it looks like AMD is far from giving up on its AM4 desktop platform.

Frankly, if AMD releases these processors, it will be a good development for users who do not want to part ways with their current computers and upgrade to AM5 platforms, which are slightly more expensive due to increasing DRAM and motherboard prices. Although prices for the AM5 platform have dropped significantly in recent months, being able to fit a new X3D chip into an older 500/400/300 series AM4 motherboard can be an attractive opportunity.
