The competition between AMD and Nvidia has left its place to scaling and artificial intelligence technologies. In this context, FSR 4.0, which is expected to be introduced within the scope of CES 2025, is one of the most important developments of AMD this year. Finally, the FSR 4.0 Radeon drivers began to appear.

AMD FSR 4.0 is coming very soon

As you know, FSR technology was first introduced in 2021 and updated with FSR 2.0 and FSR 3.0, upgraded square speeds and new generation technologies over time. FSR 4.0, on the other hand, will contain AI (artificial intelligence) -based square creation and interpolation features. However, for a while, this feature will be limited to RDNA 4 architecture on the agenda. Now, a file called “AMDXCFFX64.DLL” was discovered on the Radeon Preview driver published by AMD in late December.

The new leak contains both FSR 4.0 and FSR 3.1 applications and has 17MB size compared to previous versions (6.5MB). The leakage source confirmed that the FSR 4.0 has an AI support with 8 -bit rocking point application over these files. However, the WMMA required for this (Mave Matrix Multiply Accumulate) is supported by only RDNA4 Architecture GPUs.

Let’s say the new driver has not yet been shared through official channels. The latest official beta driver does not contain this file. Therefore, the new driver may be used for CES 2025 demos. AMD has not yet released the Radeon RX 9070 series introduced within the scope of CES 2025. Previously, it was shared that this delay was experienced due to software studies.

AMD’s focus here is that it has more FSR 4.0 compatible production at the exit of the cards. Moreover, FSR 3.1 -supported productions will currently support FSR 4.0.
