AMD had switched to the AM5 socket for its Ryzen 7000 processors. As a cost of switching to AM5 sockets, consumers have to change their motherboards along with the new generation processors. In this context, X670E and X670 motherboards from motherboard manufacturers for the next level were released. Also this month, mid-range B650E and B650 motherboards began to be released.

However, it seems that AMD’s price promise for the B650 series has not been kept. We have already seen that motherboards with the X670 chipset are priced at a minimum of $300. Motherboards with B650 chipsets, which are expected to be more affordable, are currently priced at $ 159, even at this price, only the Gigabyte B650M DS3H motherboard is available. On the other hand, AMD has officially announced that the B650 series motherboards will enter the market with prices starting from $ 125.

AMD B650E and B650 motherboard prices

As can be seen from the list below, aside from the promised starting price of $125, we see that B650E chips motherboards go up to $450. X670E motherboards can be found in this price range. Therefore, we see that B650/E motherboards are not very user-oriented in terms of pricing.

On the other hand, the B650 series will be very attractive and forward-looking for those who want to build an AM5-based system. Because we already know that the Ryzen 8000 and Ryzen 9000 family will come to this platform. However, installing an AM4-based system seems to be much more advantageous at the price point compared to the new generation. Therefore, the transition of users to the new generation may be more difficult than expected.
