AMD confirmed: jointly developed with FSR 4.0 Sony
AMD has managed to make serious progress in image quality with its recently announced FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4). While the new version focused on AI support like DLSS, details about the development process were not shared. Finally, AMD shared a surprise announcement about FSR 4.0.

Commonly developed with FSR 4.0 Sony

In a new announcement on the X, AMD confirmed that FSR 4.0 has been developed jointly with Sony. In addition, in this announcement, technology is only “start” and the “Project Amethyst” cooperation with PlayStation will continue.

The first FSR version for the kidnappers provides only spatial upgrade, while the FSR 2 time -based upgrade. However, both methods could not reach the quality of an artificial intelligence -based model. With FSR 4, AMD has made a significant leap in the field of artificial intelligence -supported image upgrade.

As a matter of fact, the Amethyst project, announced by Sony at the end of 2024, included a machine learning -based development process. In short, we can call it a common machine learning project. At this point, Sony says that with the completion of the development process of the PS5 Pro, they focus on the Amethyst project and goes through a long process.

It is not technically confirmed, but AMD seems to be based on the algorithms and models of PSSR to train FSR 4. Therefore, this partnership can lead to significant changes in the game world. Likewise, Nvidia’s transformer model with DLSS 4 is still the most advanced solution. Although the AMD FSR 4 has closed this difference significantly, it can now be used only in the Radeon RX 9000 series.
