AMD experienced a spike in market capitalization. This process comes after Xilinx acquired a $49 billion stake on Monday, 15 months after the move was announced. At this point, the change in the companies’ stock prices added an extra 40 percent to the deal. It was worth $35 million when AMD first announced its intentions.
AMD’s situation put the company above Intel’s market value. Thus, a good month has passed for the company. In addition to exceeding Intel’s market value, it also had a record 25.65 percent share in the x86 market. Although the number of AMD processors dropped in the Steam survey in December, it returned in January. The share price is also currently set at $121.47. That’s more than double that of Intel.
AMD market cap surpasses Intel for the first time in history
In 2015, Dell paid $67 billion for EMC. In addition, Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. These two are among the two largest acquisitions in tech history. The increase in the number of shares on the AMD side revealed that AMD’s market value jumped to 197.75 billion dollars. Meanwhile, it also saw Intel’s market capitalization increase by $51 million.
Intel currently holds three-quarters of the x86 market share. Their processors are also included in 70 percent of Steam survey respondents. In addition, it generates more profit and revenue from AMD. Also, a different reason for superiority than it has its own factories. Still, AMD continues to break Intel’s dominance.
