The graphics card war between AMD and NVIDIA has been going on for many years. Although NVIDIA seems to be leading the race for now with the new GeForce RTX 40 series, AMD also has important plans for the future. Wanting to take the lead in the graphics card race, AMD emphasized VRAM to computer users.
Who is ahead in the graphics card race between AMD and NVIDIA?
AMD states that users should prefer their own graphics cards instead of NVIDIA, on the grounds that current and future games will require more VRAM, especially at higher resolutions. AMD, which has advantages over NVIDIA in terms of VRAM capacity, is thus trying to attract users.
So what is this VRAM? VRAM is simply a buffer that the graphics card uses to store information. The information collected here is then used to process images on the computer screen. That’s why AMD states that VRAM capacity is of great importance, especially in high-resolution games.
Emphasizing the importance of VRAM, AMD shared the comparative results for games such as Resident Evil 4, The Last of US Part I and Hogwarts Legacy using 11 GB or more of VRAM. Comparing the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX graphics cards with NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080, the company claims that they have an advantage of up to 27 percent over NVIDIA.
Although these test results shared by AMD show the company’s great superiority over NVIDIA, NVIDIA’s superiority stands out in many independent tests so far. Of course, we do not know the test scenarios made by AMD. Therefore, it is quite normal for the test results to be different.
