The Steam Deck handheld console is powered by AMD’s APU chip , which combines both the processor and the graphics card in a single chip and can be actively used in small devices. Today, a remarkable claim has been made about APUs that have developed considerably and become even more powerful, and if this claim is realized, it is considered that the processor of the Steam Deck will become better performing.

Valve has announced that it will release the successor of the Steam Deck, which has won the appreciation of users. According to new news, AMD is working on an APU with the latest architecture that can run the next version of Steam Deck, and this new APU seems to have extremely powerful features.

Little Phoenix will be stronger than before

According to the claims made by Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), AMD is working on a completely renewed APU with Zen4 and RDNA3 architectures. This new APU is said to be the successor to the APU that powers the Steam Deck, and will allegedly be called Little Phoenix. It is among the rumors that this chip, which is claimed to be developed specifically for the Steam Deck handheld console, will be available with 4 cores and 8 threads. Sources claiming that the internal GPU with RDNA 2 architecture will be replaced by a more powerful GPU with RDNA 3 architecture said that the CPU of the device can increase from 3.5GHz to 4GHz.

There is no information about the battery, but it is considered that a device with such powerful features will extend the battery life and improve the cooling performance. This is all the information about the new chip called Little Phoenix for now, and the Steam Deck with the new processor is expected to be available to users by 2024 .
