Amazon introduced its new AI-powered robotic arm called Sparrow at its Delivering the Future event, which was held a while ago. Amazon’s new robot arm works with minimal human assistance and simplifies much of the warehouse operating process. The robot, which can grasp and gently release products thanks to its suction cup arms, can do most of the work by itself.

Robot uses artificial intelligence

Sparrow is recorded as the first robot that can detect items of different sizes in Amazon warehouse systems, collect them and process them without human intervention. Sparrow has the ability to identify 65 percent of Amazon’s millions of products. The previous generation robots from Sparrow, which had an array of sensors and artificial intelligence to detect and sort products, could only detect about 15 different sized boxes.

Amazon is increasingly starting to adopt the automation technique. Because the company is essentially an e-commerce company and the warehouses generally do not produce. Therefore, a large part of warehouse activities consist of workloads based on repetitive movements. The company’s new Sparrow robot, which wants to use more robots in this field, has been developed just for this.

Amazon reports that Sparrow will do the tedious work and free workers to do other tasks. However, it should not be overlooked that Amazon is working towards full automation in the future. The tech giant has also begun to focus more on drone-based deliveries.
