Amazon, one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world, is preparing to enter a brand new sector in the near future. Because Amazon’s autonomous vehicle company Zoox has started testing its small autonomous taxis on the roads in some parts of the USA. The autonomous taxi, which has been tested in public areas, has given very good results for now.

The autonomous taxi, with a maximum speed of 65 km / h, does not work continuously. Autonomous taxis, which can only be used during the daytime on Saturdays and Sundays, will not be used in cases of adverse weather conditions. Announcing that approval has been received from the US authorities, Zoox officials underlined that the autonomous taxi carries passengers dozens of times on a certain route.

Amazon’s fully autonomous taxi has not been involved in a single accident

Zoox’s autonomous taxi does not have any steering wheels or pedals. For now, the vehicle can go from a certain point to another point automatically. Yes, it serves as a city bus for now… In the statements made by Jesse Levinson, one of the founders of Zoox, it was stated that the strangely designed taxi had no problems during the test process and did not even cause a single accident despite the other vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the vicinity.

Zoox’s autonomous taxi is a vehicle equipped with sensors. In this context; vehicle and pedestrian traffic is instantly controlled and Zoox acts accordingly. Let’s not go without mentioning that: Although Zoox has started to use its self-developed autonomous vehicle, the company also uses the Toyota Highlander, which is equipped with the same sensors. Zoox aims to use vehicles developed and produced from scratch as fully autonomous, instead of vehicles that are essentially ‘transformed passenger cars’.
