Last week at the annual Amazon Web Services developer conference, Amazon announced Q, the company’s artificial intelligence chatbot for business. Amazon Q, which offers a usage like ChatGPT, seems not quite ready for first use. Some workers even say the problems are quite serious and could ‘potentially cause heart attacks in lawyers’.

Amazon Q raises security concerns

According to internal documents obtained by Platformer, Amazon Q suffers severe hallucinations and leaks confidential data. Some of these leaks include the location of AWS data centers, internal discount programs, and even unreleased features. Amazon representative denied these allegations in his statement to Platformer. Amazon underlines that they received various feedback, but as a result, they could not detect any security problems.

Q works as a business-focused chatbot that can be customized to answer questions and create content, in addition to assisting employees with a variety of different job functions. So, we can say that it is not like free ChatGPT, but more like ChatGPT Enterprise version. When it announced the product, Amazon said many companies were using Q, including Accenture, Amazon, BMW Group, Gilead, Mission Cloud, Orbit Irrigation and Wunderkind.

Instead of pulling information from the web, unlike many other chatbots, Amazon Q pulls answers from “the company’s repositories, code bases, and enterprise systems,” which can create more serious problems if the information is inaccurate or shared with the wrong people.
