Has Walmart’s ten -year domination ended?
Since 2012, Walmart, which has the title of company with the highest income every quarter semester, has achieved its record by passing the Exxon Mobile. However, the latest data show that the balance of power in the retail sector has begun to change.
On an annual basis, Walmart is still leading. In 2025 financially, Walmart’s total income is expected to be 708.7 billion dollars, while Amazon is expected to reach $ 700.8 billion. As the difference continues to shrink, Amazon’s rapidly growing income sources indicate that they can cross Walmart on an annual basis in the future.
Although Amazon’s traditional retail sales are still the biggest source of income, different business lines that continue to grow increase the financial power of the company. In particular, cloud computing, advertising and third -party vendor services are increasingly involved in the company’s income cake.
Amazon, from the businesses selling on the platform commission, logistics and customer service fees by receiving 24.5 percent of last year’s total income from this channel had obtained. The company’s cloud computing department (AWS) constituted approximately 17 percent of the total income and became one of the most valuable business units with its high profitability rate.
Walmart, on the other hand, in the footsteps of Amazon, created a market place for third -party sellers and began to provide logistics services. However, these operations remain quite small compared to Amazon’s huge ecosystem. In addition, Walmart launched Walmart+as a rival to Amazon Prime. The company also accelerates its work in the field of advertising.
