Due to the crisis in the IT sector, many companies, especially Amazon, Facebook and Google, continue to lay off. Having laid off approximately 18,000 people last year, Amazon recently announced that it has added nine thousand more to this number. Now, the company has announced a new layoff policy that concerns Amazon Games.

Amazon Games lays off a hundred employees!

Amazon; Prime Gaming has announced that it will layoff more than 100 employees involved in game production, including those at Game Growth and Amazon Games’ San Diego studio. The company did not disclose details while citing a strategic change as the reason for the cuts. Games VP Christoph Hartmann said the teams at Irvine and Montreal will continue to expand while announcing the layoffs.

As you know, many companies have been having a hard time financially lately and they are making layoffs as a solution. Recently, Meta dismissed 10 thousand employees and closed 5 thousand open positions in 2023, which it determined as the productivity year. Google has recently been protested for laying off 10,000 jobs. This type of news emerged due to the economic recession in the world markets.

The only game Amazon Games has released is the current role-playing game New World. Although the production received positive reviews, it could not achieve the expected return. While another game, Crucible, was scheduled to be free-to-play, its adventure was short-lived and was cancelled. So this news did not come as a surprise to many, as the past was not so bright for Amazon Games.
