Having an important place among alternative web browsers, Vivaldi finally entered cars. Partnering with Swedish electric car manufacturer Polestar, Vivaldi will be the first browser available on Android Automotive OS, currently starting in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. Considering that even Chrome does not offer this possibility at present, this is an important step for Vivaldi.
“We’ve listened to our community and are responding to browser requests with Vivaldi as a nice Christmas present,” says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.
Vivaldi says the scanner can only be used while parked. Considering the problem Tesla had with the Passenger Play feature, it is clear that this was a good decision.
According to Vivaldi CEO Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, the partnership has come about thanks to the seamless synergy between Vivaldi and Polestar: “We are really proud to introduce our scanner to a car for the first time with a brand like Polestar. Our technological and sustainability goals are aligned. “We value transparency, privacy and responsible innovation, including having servers in one of their newest markets, Iceland. Like Polestar, we are a challenger brand and take a Scandinavian-based approach to design.”
